1.0 RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURAL DESIGN for Single Family Homes:

  A typical structural design for a Residential Building comprises of two aspects:
 
  • the gravity analysis and design that consists of design of various framing members like roof rafters, headers, beams, joists, posts and foundation
  • the lateral analysis and design that consists of design of shearwalls, holdowns and the all important connections for transfer of shear from roof to foundation.
2.0  COMMERCIAL STRUCTURAL DESIGN
CEC-AZ has designed several light Commercial Structures that include Small Offices and Single Story Shops.

3.0  REMEDIAL STRUCTURAL DESIGN:
Structural inspection of homes and report on causes and remedial measures for retrofit to existing homes is a forte of CEC-AZ.

4.0   RETAINING WALL DESIGN:
Retaining wall is designed to resist horizontal force due to earth pressure. Design and details on reinforcing & wall section are determined using in-house SOFTWARE.
We are capable of designing several types of retaining walls- lumber, steel, concrete and masonry.


5.0  BASEMENT WALL DESIGN:
Basement Wall is designed to resist gravity load and lateral load (earth pressure) CEC-AZ provides services for several types of basement walls
  • Plain Concrete Walls
  • Reinforced Concrete Walls
  • Plain Masonry Walls
  • Reinforced Masonry Walls
  • Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) Walls
  • Walls with horizontal reinforcement only.(CEC's patent pending design)
6.0  REMODELING:
CEC-AZ provides structural services for remodeling of existing buildings. Addition in the existing house like exterior patio or detached garages and recreation rooms are customized designs that we excel in.

7.0  VALUE ENGINEERING:
Value Engineering Review has provided our clients with significant cost-savings. The most important part of "Value Engineering" process is the review of the lateral (shear wall) system of the structure. We have the capability to investigate several shearwall / holdown schemes to typically reduce the number of holdowns, and to reduce the total number and linear feet of shearwalls. In face, we have "in-house" computer software to design the lateral system, which gives us great advantage over most other engineering companies that still use "hand-calculation" methods. This fact, along with application of good judgement, can enable us to "fine-tune" the lateral system, and provide a very efficient final design.

8.0  POST-TENSION FOUNDATION (PT FOUNDATION):
Where expansive Clay and poor bearing pressure in soil is encountered, the post tension foundation slab is recommended. CEC-AZ provides 3 types of PT Foundation slab Designs:
  • Uniform Thickness Slab,
  • Uniform Thickness Slab with Perimeter Beams
  • Uniform Thickness Slab with Intermediate Ribbed Beams
CEC-AZ utilizes in-house software for P T Foundation Designs.
